New year, new love connection.
The first Sunday in January is the busiest day of the year for online dating, according to Tinder.
This Sunday, Jan. 7, a whopping 519 Tinder bios are expected to be edited with 2,263 photos added every minute, the matchmaking service told The Post.
On “Dating Sunday,” the number of messages sent on Tinder increases by 22%, users respond 19.4 minutes faster than on any other Sunday in the year, and the number of “likes” on the app increases by 18.2%.
As people update their profiles, about 58.7 million more likes and 11.4 million more messages will likely be sent on the app compared to the rest of the year, Tinder added.
This Sunday may be an exciting day for many New Yorkers specifically: A new study from U.S. Credit Unions analyzed Google Trends data to find that focusing on their dating life was the top priority for New Yorkers going into 2024.
And the fun won’t stop by Monday. Tinder shared that the app typically sees an uptick in activity from the first Sunday of the year until Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14.
For those preparing for peak cuffing season, Tinder’s Global Relationship Insights Expert, Paul C. Brunson, shared some advice to help attract the right person for you.
When editing your profile splayed out on your couch this Sunday, Bruson recommends uploading at least five photos that capture your personality and show off your interests.
“People want to see you for who you are, and authenticity is important above all else to young singles,” he said in a press release.
Although a picture is worth a thousand words, Brunson revealed that about 15 to 45 words are the optimal word count for a dating profile to express who you are.
“Your interests are what make you you — and by sharing them you’ll be more likely to meet people who match your energy,” Brunson explained.
Once you’re matched with someone, the relationship expert suggests sparking meaningful conversations by asking questions you truly want to know the answer to or about their favorite things.
“The best dates happen when you have time to get to know each other on the app before meeting in real life,” Brunson claimed.
The relationship expert also advises singletons to be clear about their intentions.
“Being straightforward and honest about what you are looking for from a match will go a long way,” Brunson said.
