Warning! Spoilers below for Love, Victor.

Love, Victor season 2 ended with a surprising scene between Lake and Lucy that could set up the show's future. Both teens are single and armed with a bottle of champagne and that, combined with their flirty interactions at Veronica and Harold's wedding, seems to point to the fact that the Hulu show will be exploring a brand new LGBTQ+ storyline in season 3.

Lake's blossoming relationship with Felix has been a prominent storyline in Love, Victor since the show's beginning, but now that they broke up and he has pursued a relationship with Victor's little sister Pilar, Lake is open to explore other opportunities. Lucy, on the other hand, is a brand new character in Love, Victor season 2. She briefly dated Andrew before he got together with his longtime crush Mia. As Lake and Lucy run in the same circles, they have interacted before. But Harold and Veronica's wedding is the first they have a real and honest interaction.

Love, Victor season 1 chronicled Victor's journey in becoming comfortable with his sexuality and coming out. Season 2 explored the more complicated layers of that, such as what it means to be a gay person of color. But with the Love, Victor season 2 finale interaction between Lake and Lucy, it looks like the show will continue to explore another facet of sexuality - bisexuality. It's an important storyline to prove the show's belief that sexuality is a spectrum worth exploring.

Featured Love, Victor Season 2 Premieres In June

Love, Victor season 2 grew in the ways in which it told stories about sexuality. Ahead of its release, the show was moved from Disney+ to Hulu because of "adult themes." While the first season told an innocent story of self-discovery and high school crushes, the second season took that opportunity from Disney to tell more complicated stories. In season 2, those stories involve people who aren't accepting. Victor comes from a Latino and deeply religious household, along with being a student athlete - he had to learn that people from those parts of his world aren't always open. While coming out is a never-ending journey, Love, Victor season 2 ends with Victor in a place where he is comfortable with himself.

With the Hulu show establishing a solid base in exploring Victor's journey with his sexuality, it only makes sense to move onto another part of the spectrum. While they come from vastly different backgrounds, Lake and Victor's families both have very specific, heteronormative expectations for them. Lake's mother is a famous news anchor who constantly held her daughter's body to unrealistic expectations. Love, Victor hasn't dived into this side of Lake's story yet, but it's safe to assume that her mother always pictured her exclusively dating boys. Because of that, Lake exploring a relationship with a girl likely will cause some friction with her mother. But that's something that many people can relate to, which is what makes Love, Victor an increasingly important story for the LGBTQ+ community.
