Chrishell Stause cut things off with Keo Motsepe when he allegedly started to show similar behavior to her “love bomber” ex-husband, Justin Hartley.
“Did I learn from my mistakes after Justin? Well, when it comes to love I’m still a work in progress,” the “Selling Sunset” star, 40, wrote in her new book, “Under Construction,” per an excerpt obtained by E! News.
”I did fall for another love bomber not long after my divorce, and we were quickly heading toward real commitment.”
Stause described the former “Dancing With the Stars” pro, 32, as a “tall dancer” who started off as an “amazing, positive, generous guy.” She claimed things went downhill, however, after the “honeymoon phase” ended.
“This time, instead of making excuses for his behavior, I actually opened my eyes, pushed past the smoke and mirrors, and saw the truth,” she recalled. “I’d gotten stronger, and as soon as I realized how deep his apparent lies went, I was the one who ended it.”
Stause explained that the “last thing” she wanted to do was “rehash old wounds” while reflecting back on her love life for the book. However, the “DWTS” alum added that she now sees her past mistakes as lessons learned.
“Being so far away from it now I can see that what happened [with Justin] was a gift,” she wrote of her public divorce from Hartley, 44. “Now I understand much more clearly how I deserve to be treated.”
She continued, “When someone is in love, it’s hard to convince that person that the relationship isn’t right. Even if he’s waving red flags like a bullfighter to everyone around you, you’re the girl striding right up to him, oblivious to any impending danger. You’re too distracted and in your own world to listen.”
Stause went on to say that it’s those lessons she learned from Hartley that were able to help her see more clearly in her relationship with Motsepe. The reality star knew exactly when it was time to end, she said.
“While it hurt, I was able to put it all behind me quickly,” Stause wrote. “Before him, after a breakup I usually couldn’t eat or sleep, but this time was much different. I took care of myself, I kept busy, and I felt strong knowing that I’d done the right thing for me.”
She added, “Instead of feeling sorry for myself after we broke up, I felt empowered.”
Stause dated Motsepe for just three months before calling it quits. It was her first public relationship since finalizing her divorce from Hartley, whom she was married to from 2017 to 2021.
Months later, Stause started dating her “Selling Sunset” co-star and boss Jason Oppenheim, but they split just five months after taking their relationship public.
