JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 21-year-old man already facing a list of charges was arrested Monday in connection with a July murder in Northwest Jacksonville.

Kadeem Perry Woodard of Jacksonville, who’s been held at the Duval County jail since last month on burglary and firearm possession charges, is now charged with second-degree murder, according to jail records.

Police answering a report of gunfire on Avenue B near Brooklyn Road the night of July 19 found a large crowd hundreds of people deep, which scattered when officers arrived. The 24-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound but died three days later.

Police arrested Kadeem Woodard on Dec. 21 in connection with a deadly shooting in July.

Besides the victim’s age, no information about his identity or a possible motive has been released.

Woodard was first arrested in November on charges of drug possession, burglary and illegal possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Court records show that two months before the deadly shooting, a judge signed off on an injunction against Woodard after he was accused of threatening to kill a woman, her son and her mother. Records show in 2018, Woodard was sentenced to 62 days in jail after he was convicted of armed robbery.

Woodard is scheduled for a court hearing on Jan. 7.
