Press release from Love, Anji Paper Florist: Small businesses have been faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges over the last two months. While the local community in Cleveland has rallied hard to "Shop Local" and support entrepreneurs in their neighborhood as they try to adapt, it's hard to be a small business during a global pandemic. But that hasn't stopped Anji Brooks from continuing to spread happiness with her handcrafted paper flower arrangements. This week, on April 13th, Love, Anji Paper Florist turned 7 years old.
How has Anji adapted amid the COVID-19 crisis? She's been steadily keeping focus on what has always driven her business, sharing JOY. As a close friend once noted, Anji's paper flowers are her love letter to the world. Brooks said: "My vision for this business has always been to add beauty to people's day. I pour so much love into each and every one of my flowers and I hope people can feel that. I'm grateful that I'm still able to spread love across the country.
On April 13th Love, Anji celebrated it's 7th anniversary in business. As with all Small Businesses, Love, Anji has seen a variety of iterations over the years. Anji has always loved to have flowers in her home, but suffers from severe headaches when she is around them. This was the original inspiration that got her crafting these beautiful handmade goods in 2012. Starting to sell flowers at pop-up events and flea markets, Anji soon opened up her first kiosk at 5th Street Arcades in Downtown Cleveland in July 2013.
The kiosk grew into a small 5th Street Arcade storefront in 2015, and expanded again in 2017 into a much larger space in the same building with a wide assortment of flowers, more cards, stationery, and gift items. As her business evolved and her wholesale demand grew, she decided to close the storefront and move the business focus to online and wholesale. She sells flowers to boutiques in 9 states and counting!
Being in business for 7 years, this is NOT the first crisis Love, Anji has responded to. When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico while Anji was traveling there on a vacation, she created a deep connection to the island, as well as the people she stayed with there during their heartbreaking loss. To raise support and funds for Puerto Rico in recovery, Love, Anji sold Puerto Rican Flag roses and continues to aid in relief efforts to this day. Now, in the current state of crisis around the world due to COVID-19, Anji is doing her part to bring light, love, and happiness to friends who are sheltering-in-place, recovering from the virus, or mourning a loss.
Brooks said: "A customer of mine shipped flowers to her sister and nieces as a surprise at the beginning of the Stay at Home order. She said "the Governor says "spring will come" and your flowers are the tactile message of hope!". Her sister posted a picture of the flowers she received on
my Facebook page and said "Thank you for bringing such happiness into our home." That's why I do this. There is nothing better than bringing a smile to someone's face."
What's next for Love, Anji? Anji is celebrating by launching a new blog to tell the stories of the happiness that she sees spreading through her flowers. She is launching new products, creating custom arrangements for Mother's Day, and new commemorative 2020 roses for upcoming graduations. Finally, Love, Anji is launching a giveaway for all past customers to share the love by tagging photos of them with their flowers, or of the recipient of the flowers with #SpreadLoveAnji on Instagram. All participants will be entered for a chance to win a $50 arrangement! As Anji continues to blossom, her brand does too, and the lives of people around the world are a lot brighter with these blooms in them.
