CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Press Release) - Walk around the streets of any town in Wyoming, and it won’t be very long until you find a person with their shoulders hunched over and their head down, staring at a smart phone. In fact, studies show that the average person spends a third of their waking hours on their smart phone. What’s even more interesting is that those hours are spent almost entirely inside of smart phone apps specifically.
Marcus Wiesner, CEO of I Love Wyoming, comments: “All of that valuable attention and energy being spent inside of apps, has always been a great way for big national retailers to drain local dollars away from the mom-and-pop stores on Main Street. Our mission is to reverse that.”
If You Can’t Join Them, Beat Them
Marcus and Molly Wiesner aren’t exactly millionaires themselves. Marcus owns an advertising agency he runs out of the spare room in his house, a room that has guitars hanging on the wall and looks out directly onto the Gillette College parking lot.
Molly had a background in local banking, before coming to work for the family business. The couple have lived in Gillette for close to 5 years, and Molly is a Casper native. The couple left Denver to escape the traffic and raise their young family.
“The story of how this app came to be, is really miraculous. To be honest, we feel immensely blessed to have this opportunity, and we’re going to do everything we can to make it a force for good in the world.” Says Molly.
The couple started talking to developers back in late 2021.
“The people who developed this app had already spent $4 million in development before we ever started talking to them. It was clear from the very beginning – they were never going to bring it to Wyoming. We sat down with them and bought exclusive rights to the technology in the whole state of Wyoming. This includes some patent-pending technology.”
“We have spent a lot of time since then making this the perfect app for Wyomingites to connect with each other, connect with local businesses, stay up to date with local events and news, and buy and sell guns, livestock, and whatever else they want from each other.” Says Marcus.
Highlighting The Technology Wyomingites Care About
“First of all, I Love Wyoming features a classifieds section with minimal restrictions on what you can buy and sell. We allow the purchase and sale of firearms, ammunition, and livestock. That’s an important part of what makes this THE Wyoming App.” Comments Molly.
The app also features weather, a news sections, a local events calendar, and a neighborhood news feed with shoutouts, posts, and other conversations. But the main focus is keeping Wyomingites connected with their local businesses.
Through I Love Wyoming, local businesses now have access to patent-pending Bluetooth Beacon technology, which connects them to the smart phones of nearby shoppers through a passive Bluetooth connection.
Any person with the I Love Wyoming app downloaded will see their special promotions when they are within 2110 feet of the Beacon.
Businesses can also make use of the digital rewards program, that allows repeat customers to enjoy more rewards, through a high-tech tablet kiosk in their location.
The app is smooth, easy to navigate, and packed with dozens of features just like this. It is available through both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, as well as online at www.ilovewyoming.app
The Future Looks Bright No matter what your opinion on apps is, they are here to stay. In fact, app downloads have continued to grow exponentially every year since they were introduced.
But Molly says that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. “When everyone downloads I Love Wyoming, we can start to look at people staring at their screens as a good thing for our local economy. We can start to take back screen time for our local merchants.”
I Love Wyoming has already launched in Gillette, Wyoming with several sponsorships and key partnerships with local organizations like the Chamber of Commerce. The app is also sponsoring the Thursday Night Concert Series this summer in Gillette.
But the future looks bright, and they aim to serve the entire state of Wyoming eventually.
“We’re very interested in any opportunity to get started at Cheyenne Frontier Days, either this year or next year. We’re open to partnerships.” Molly stated.
“And by the way… Every business in Wyoming already has a free listing on the app. If you own a business, we’d love to verify your free listing information and show you what your new business account is capable of. You can call us anytime at (844) I – Luv – Wyo.” Says Marcus.
The app is available for download on both the App Store and the Google Play Store as of the time of writing. You can also access the “desktop application” at www.ilovewyoming.app
