The Baltimore Ravens entered Saturday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers one consecutive victory short of making NFL history.

The Ravens left Bank of America Saturday night with their 19th consecutive preseason win tying Vince Lombardi’s 1959-1962 Green Bay Packers for the most in league history.

Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley found himself taking most of the snaps behind center as he makes a case to backup quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Baltimore could not get much done on offense in the first half. The Ravens would not score their first points until the closing seconds of the second quarter.

Despite the offense not finding the end zone in the first two quarters, the Ravens’ offense began to heat up in the second half — specifically the running backs.

During the Ravens’ first drive in the third quarter, running back Nate McCrary found the end zone on a two-yard rush to give Baltimore a 10-3 lead.

Not long after in the fourth quarter, running back Ty’Son Williams scored on a sensational 20-yard run. Both backs are making a strong case to be on the team come September.

The Ravens defense held Carolina to only three points and defeated the Panthers 20-3. It looks like the running game and defense remained a part of Baltimore’s game plan despite the rocky start.

The Ravens are proud of their historic preseason winning streak

While preseason records aren’t ones that fans get excited for — it’s a record that the team and head coach John Harbaugh is proud of.

“So, I just think it’s a credit to the players in terms of preparation and the coaches over the years in terms of we run a good training camp, offseason program, and guys are ready to play good fundamental football. That’s what wins, whether it’s preseason, the [regular] season or whatever it might be.”

During Harbaugh’s tenure as head coach of the Ravens, the team has an overall preseason record of 38-12 (.764). Overall, Baltimore is 65-32 (.670) in preseason play in the team’s history.

The Ravens have not lost a preseason game since Sep. 3, 2015. Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is entering his fourth season in the NFL, was just a freshman at Louisville at the time.

The Ravens will look to make it 20 consecutive victories and own the all-time record next Saturday when the team travels to Landover, Maryland to close out the preseason against the Washington Football Team.
