Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball Star Kevin Love interviewed about his waterfront Tribeca apartment with Architectural Digest. In his article and video interview, Love takes the public through his industrial and American West-inspired home. The downtown three-bedroom apartment is in a new waterfront building. Although a long house hunting process, it was definitely worth the wait for Love.

“I was drawn to this place. One of the last undeveloped Tribeca waterfront properties, it was a place where I knew I would be able to just look out the window and see the West Side Highway, the trees, the water, the cityscape across the river,” explained Love when describing his home.

Known for being a basketball star for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Love is an NBA five-time All-Star player, NBA championship winner, and a 2012 Olympics gold medalist. Girlfriend and Swimsuit Illustrated model, Kate Bock, toured the home alongside Love.

Love designed and furnished his apartment with Kerry Varnum of Grey Designs. Love worked with Varnum when designing his Cleveland home.

“Kevin had pulled a lot of images,” explained Varnum when describing Love’s interior design vision. Varnum incorporated notes of classic Tribeca and the American West, which are reflected throughout the apartment in prints and the art.

Love took time in his renovation and furnishing process. Love replaced the flooring with reclaimed oak from The Hudson Company. He added exposed beams to highlight his industrial aesthetic. The home incorporates warm tones and neutrals from Ralph Lauren lounge chairs to art pieces by John Baldessari and Antony Gormley.

Love takes the public through his three-bedroom apartment highlighting the common spaces, kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, office, and bar area. Love shows off his love for music by touring his vintage vinyl collection. Above the collection is an EXIT piece designed by Doug Aitken, which provides a bold, vibrant pop of color.

When describing his apartment purchase in New York City, Love said, “I like the idea of not only being a basketball player but also exposing myself to all walks of life, to every type of person. New York stokes the fire of my intellectual curiosity – without fear or prejudice.”
