Love Letter: Missing Your Son’s Ex-Girlfriend? - The New York Times

makaanlontong.blogspot.com

Alas, some relationships are rarely discussed.

Most of the submissions we receive at Modern Love are about romantic relationships. That is far from a surprise, but it is a shame.

Why? Well, because there are so many nonromantic relationships that are worth celebrating, condemning or, at the very least, discussing. (As the youngest of four children, I take pleasure in learning about other sibling dynamics. What kind of fights do they have? What memories and mythologies do they share?)

When we focus so much on romantic relationships, we overlook the other ties that bind.

Some of my favorite essays and Tiny Love Stories are about those rarely discussed relationships. In this week’s Tiny Love Stories column, we hear from a mother who is dismayed when her son breaks up with his girlfriend.

What can you do with that kind of love?

Here’s how to submit a Modern Love essay or an Unhitched column. Don’t feel like writing more than two tweets, an Instagram caption or a Facebook post? Consider submitting to Tiny Love Stories, which are no more than 100 words.
