Visitors to the Rowland Freedom Center in Vacaville Saturday not only got to explore flight, but the deep atmosphere surrounding it.

Space, the final frontier, was on display in all its glory, courtesy of NASA Solar System Ambassador Zach Amis of Vacaville and his son, Jaxon, 9.

“My hope is to always inspire kids to learn more about science and engineering,” Zach said.

son.

“I really like studying the planets. I think it’s super interesting how their moons are, how they could actually have life on them,” Jaxon explained. “I want to be an astronaut.”

Zach supports the goal.

“I think it’s humanity’s destiny to go out into the solar system,” he said.”The resources we could mine! There’s so much to learn.”

“And there could be different life,” his son cut in. “What if they don’t need water or air or any source of food?”

“Or a different source of food,” Zach replied.

So many possibilities regarding space exploration.

“It’s hard to wrap your head around it,” Zach emphasized. “It’s so big. It’s so vast.”

To help visitors indulge in various aspects of space, tables were laden with binders of information, coloring sheets, stickers, pamphlets, posters and more. There were large displays and small ones and monitors projecting videos of space travel, launches and more.

There were even pieces of meteorite and a raffle for one.

Zach and Jaxon, too, were full of information, anticipating questions and probing them.

“There’s so much to learn,” Zach mused, adding that the day’s event was his 20th presentation as a solar system ambassador.

“We’re never done exploring. Never!” Jaxon added.

Next up, Zach said, could be NASA sending a spacecraft to the Psyche asteroid and to Europa, Jupiter’s moon, as well as a lander to Europa to retrieve more data.
