The Recorder - We must preserve our individualism, our love

I kind of had a revelation a few years ago, that where focus is, is where energy and effort would go to create things. I figured positivity is the only way to create the next thing, what’s new, and negativity only destroys what already is.

Because of that, I’ve stayed away from certain topics because I believed they were negative, or wouldn’t produce a productive outcome. Also, when speaking to thousands of people at once, like we can on here, I’ve learned it tends to be a better idea to be more general, and amplify myself and others in that way.

I also know that in this time of great communication, that we affect each other on a grand scale. I know my days are changed by the brilliant thoughts and ideas of others I’ve seen, and the beautiful images of their lives that our technology allows us to share in a way we couldn’t have before.

The reason I’m writing this today is because I’ve seen something I don’t agree with, on a large scale, that’s been increasingly prevalent over the months. And I know it’s on a fundamental level, because it’s making me break my rules.

1. Love is determined by its effects, not its appearance. A person can proclaim their love through speech and image, but true love is determined by what it does. What we are able to do with it for others, it’s end result. I’ve seen things now increasingly use the guise of love, and have intentions not of loving results. We should love each other in our actions, before our words; and fulfill our words in that way; creating authenticity.

2. We must be able to communicate, and we must be able to disagree. For example, I have a political ideology that goes against what some believe in the area I’ve grown up in, and currently reside in. But that is the beauty of choice, and the ability to stand for what’s right for you, what makes us who we are. The diversity I’ve seen so many fight so hard for, and I support, also includes diversity of thought. We must be able to be honest in our thoughts and intentions. To do that we must have freedom in our language.

3. People are inherently good. We need to bring back our pride of who we are, because pride is the constructive will of belief, and utilizes our spiritual intention, generating from ourselves. Convincing everyone they’re inherently bad, or should feel shame for the myriad of reasons promoted today, will only lead to results of that mindset. In that way, we must love ourselves; in order to love others, and there is much to be proud about every day.

I know that the upcoming few months are the most difficult and unprecedented times I’ve seen in my lifetime, because of the incredible challenges everyone is facing. I think about how it must be the most difficult for children and people just becoming adults, and the landscape they face compared to the prosperity I lived through, in my formative years.

Through these times, we must preserve our individualism and our love, because that is what will create the incredible future that happens next.
