A blue-eyed Sydney-sider called Nicolas Love is the first-ever Australian ever to be recruited directly through Tinder for a reality TV show as the Tinder dating app came on board as the official casting partner for Love Island Australia this year. When we spoke with Nicolas this week he said: “I’ve loved building computers since I was a little kid. I’m a nerd at heart.”
Set to shake things up on the show, Nicolas (22) from West Ryde in Sydney, is not one to shy away from attention which you can see by checking out his selfies on his Tinder profile and Insta handle: @nicolas.lovee.
Nicolas has been selected from many Tinder members who applied for this year’s Love Island Australia through the app. This process attracted hundreds of thousands of applications from across Australia. Aussie Tinder members are clearly fans of the show, with mentions of “Love Island” in Aussie Tinder member bios increasing by 2.5x between October 2020 and October 2021.
Nicolas is excited about his stint on the show, sharing that he’d love to find a serious partner on the show. He says: “I signed up for Love Island to challenge myself and to step outside of my comfort zone. I’d love to meet someone, because I’m the best me when I have a supportive partner”.
We asked Nicolas some more questions about himself and how the show’s going so far:
Tell us about your job?
I manage luxury yachts on Sydney Harbour and organise and run all types of events and functions.
Who have you got your eye on in the Villa?
So far Courtney has caught my eye.
Will you step on toes to get who you want?
If I feel that the situation is right then I will.
What do you think you will bring to the Villa?
A different energy, competitiveness and a happy vibe.
How would your friends / family describe you?
Overall happy and energetic person that loves life and loves his family and pets. Can be an idiot sometimes but always has a good heart.
