All-Star: Paul in, Booker snubbed as coaches make their reserve selections - Bright Side of the Sun

makaanlontong.blogspot.com

All-Star reserves were announced, and the Suns will only have one representative at the All-Star game after all.

Chris Paul was named to his 11th All-Star team, while Devin Booker was left off the team in favor of other players.

As I predicted this morning, the last two spots were among Chris Paul, Zion Williamson and Devin Booker.

The choice did NOT have to be between Paul and Booker. The Suns are the 4th best team in the ENTIRE LEAGUE at 20-10. All four of the better teams got 2 players in. Even the Nets, with a WORSE record, got three — count em THREE — players in. So it wasn’t — or should not have been — between Booker and Paul. They should have picked both.

The coaches picked Zion over Book. And they were wrong, but I guess that’s only my opinion.

And I am not the only one...

Also, there’s this exchange between me, Sam Vecenie and Cody Hunt on “why Booker was rightly left off the team”.

Congrats to CP3 for making his 11th appearance in the All-Star game. Well deserved! He helped the Suns complete their turnaround (though they started it with an 8-0 run in the Bubble that almost got them a playoff appearance).

This is Paul’s second straight All-Star selection and the 11th of his career, becoming just the 32nd player in NBA history to earn at least 11 career All-Star selections. His 11 selections are tied with Kevin Durant for the second-most of any active player behind only LeBron James (17). Paul is the 25th different player in Suns history to be named an All-Star, and his selection is the 64th all-time for the Suns.

Paul has totaled 112 career assists in his All-Star Game appearances, the second-most in NBA history behind only Magic Johnson (127). The 2013 NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, he scored 23 points on 7-of-11 three-point shooting last year in Chicago.

I don’t think an actual All-Star game should be played, but I do think that the teams should be announced because many players have All-Star appearances as bonuses in their contracts.
