PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Officers have arrested a suspect for the homicide of 35-year-old Isaac Payton.
During the course of the investigation, officers found information that led to the identification of the suspect, 42-year-old Orlando Alexander.
Sunday, at approximately 2:32 pm, Alexander turned himself in and was taken into custody without incident in the 1200 block of West Main Street. Alexander was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interview purposes and subsequently arrested for First Degree Murder. Alexander was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
Payton was found dead in the 300 block of Wayne Friday night. An autopsy indicates he suffered multiple gun shot wounds, and likely died within seconds of the incident. This is the city's 22 homicide this year.
