Shubnum Khan, the writer of this week’s Modern Love essay, is 36 and single. Given that she was expected to be married by 25, this is not quite the future she had imagined. And yet she loves her life, and the different type of domestic contentment she has found with her parents, who still make each other — and her —  laugh a lot.
